Q. Where is the Rothesay Regional Police Force located?
A. The police station is located at 3 Landing Court, Quispamsis New Brunswick, E2E 4R2 (Adjacent to the Kennebacasis Valley Library) .

Q. How many officers and other resources do you have on the Force?
A.There are 31 sworn police members, 4 full-time dispatchers, 2 part-time dispatchers, 2 civilian staff and 7 auxiliary members.

Q. What is the Rothesay Regional Police Force doing about traffic safety?
A. On January 1, 2000 Rothesay Regional Police Force formed a new traffic section to deal with the increase of traffic flow to the Kennebecasis Valley area. There is one traffic officer on each platoon. If you have any traffic concerns or complaints please contact the office at 847-6300.

Q. How do I get a copy of a motor vehicle accident report?
A. The Insurance company of the driver involved in the accident provides a written letter to the Chief of police requesting the report.

Q. How can I protest a Motor Vehicle Act ticket? A. Every ticket has a court date written on it. If you wish to dispute the violation, appear in court on the specified time and date to set a future trial date.

Q. I received a call from a company claiming I had won a trip, but in order to claim my prize, I have to give them my bank account number, credit card number or some money. What should I do?
A. Most telemarketers are honest business people, but you must protect yourself from phone fraud. Offering you a prize for which you must pay is deceptive telemarketing. If you suspect you maybe a target you can reach PHONEBUSTERS at 1-888-495-8501. Periodically, the Rothesay Regional Police Force offers educational seminars to the public to help you protect yourself. Q. I have received several harassing telephone calls lately. What can I do about it?
A. Immediately after receiving one of these calls press *57, the NBTEL security feature, and then call the police. This feature will trace the call.

Q. How old do children have to be before they can be left alone and /or how old is the minimum age to baby-sit?
A. The Family Services Act says that a child under the age of 12 yrs cannot be left alone. This means that someone under the age of 12 cannot baby-sit someone's children. (s.31(4)).

Q. How old does a young person have to be to operate a motorized snowmobile, dirt bike or any all terrain vehicle by themselves, without adult supervision?
A. All Terrain Vehicle Act states: "No person under 14 yrs of age shall drive an all terrain vehicle unless supervised and accompanied by and at all times within the clear view of a person 19 yrs of age or older."(s.19.1(1))

Q. What is the minimum age to acquire a Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC)?
A. No Firearms Acquisition Certificate maybe issued to a person who is under the age of 16 yrs.(s.106(2) CCC)

Q. My employer requires a background check, how do I get one?
A. Contact the Rothesay Regional Police Force in person or by phone and a criminal record check will be completed. The completed document must be picked up in person with identification.

Q. Where do I get an application for a Firearm Acquisition Certificate?
A. Your local post office.

Q. How long do I have to voluntarily pay a Motor Vehicle Act ticket and what happens if I don't pay it on time?
A.You have approximately 30 days to make a voluntary payment to Rothesay Regional Police Force, however check your ticket for the exact payment date. If you miss the court date, the court will automatically deem you guilty and you will be contacted via mail with information on how the ticket can be paid.

Q. If I have a concern or complaint with respect to one of your member's actions, how can it be addressed?
A.Your concern should be addressed in person or by phone, to the Chief of Police or by someone in a senior management position at Rothesay Regional Police Force. You can also contact the New Brunswick Police Commission at 453-2069.
