Be Internet Smart
Tips to keep children safe while surfing the NET

* Just as you stay away from strangers on the street, be careful about strangers on the Internet.
* If anyone uses nasty language or mentions things that make you uncomfortable, don't respond and log off.
* Never give your real last name, address, or telephone number to anyone; if someone asks for this information (or for your password), don't respond. Log off and tell a trusted adult.
* Never agree to meet with someone you've talked with on the Internet without asking permission from your parents first.
* There are places on the NET which are for adults only; if you find yourself in an "adults only" place, or anywhere you think you shouldn't be, leave! There are plenty of good "kid places" on the Net.

EMERGENCY 911 CALLS
I would like to take this opportunity to advise that "911" should only be dialed when reporting an emergency. You are reminded that if you dial "911" from a landline (regular phone) then your address and resident name will appear for the dispatcher which may improve the response time with respect to your emergency. If you dial "911" from a cellular telephone, this information is not displayed and it becomes even more important that you provide as specific a location for your emergency as possible. Provide a phone number in the event that you must be called back for clarification.

In addition, The Rothesay Regional Police and Fire Service would like to remind you that if you have not already done so, you should place a reflective civic number at the entrance of your property so that your home can be quickly located in an emergency. The standard type of sign that is normally used can be purchased for a nominal fee at The Rothesay Regional Fire Station 1, Campbell Drive, Rothesay.

James Killam Homicide : 11/19/1991 - Quispamsis
The Rothesay Regional Poice Force is still actively investigating the 1991 homicide of James Killam. Mr. Killam's skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area of Quispamsis on the 19th of November, 1991. A suspect was quickly identified however developing sufficient evidence to lay a charge has proven difficult.

Anyone with any information, no matter how trivial it may seem is asked to notify Sgt. Jeff Giggey of the Major Crime Unit at 847-6300.
